Use the iBanFirst MCP with ChatGPT
Connect the iBanFirst MCP Connector to ChatGPT and ask questions about your wallets, payments, and FX rates in plain language, directly from your conversations.
Before you start, make sure you have your iBanFirst Token ID and Token Password (see Before you start).
Requirements
- A ChatGPT plan that supports custom MCP apps through Developer mode: Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu.
- On a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace, Developer mode and custom apps must first be allowed by a workspace admin. See I don't see Developer mode in my settings.
- The setup is done on chatgpt.com (Web). Once added, the connector is also available in the ChatGPT Desktop app with the same account.
ChatGPT has renamed its menus several times (Connectors became Apps). If a label below doesn't match your screen, look for the equivalent entry under Settings.
Connect the MCP
1. Enable Developer mode
- Open chatgpt.com and click your profile → Settings
- Go to Apps (formerly Connectors) → Advanced settings
- Turn on Developer mode
2. Create the iBanFirst app
In Settings → Apps, click Create (or Add custom connector)
Fill in the form:
Field Value Name iBanFirst MCPDescription Read-only access to my iBanFirst wallets, payments, FX rates and tradesMCP Server URL https://mcp.ibanfirst.com/mcpAuthentication OAuthLeave the OAuth client ID and secret fields empty — ChatGPT registers itself with the iBanFirst MCP server automatically.
Tick I trust this application and click Create
3. Log in to iBanFirst
- ChatGPT opens the iBanFirst login page
- Enter your iBanFirst Token ID and Token Password, then click Connect
- You are sent back to ChatGPT. iBanFirst MCP now appears in your apps with its list of tools
Your password is entered only on the iBanFirst login page — ChatGPT only receives a temporary access token, which it renews silently. You stay connected for up to 7 days before being asked to log in again.
Use it
- Start a new chat
- Click + in the message bar → More → select iBanFirst MCP (with Developer mode on, you may need to enable it for the conversation)
- Ask your question in natural language, for example:
- "List my iBanFirst wallets and their balances."
- "Show me all payments waiting for signature."
- "What's the EUR/USD rate on iBanFirst right now?"
- "Give me my USD financial movements for last month as a table."
ChatGPT shows which iBanFirst tool it calls before using it. The full list is in Available tools. All tools are read-only.
Disconnect
- To remove the app, go to Settings → Apps → iBanFirst MCP → Disconnect or Delete.
FAQ
For questions common to every AI assistant (login, credentials, multiple companies, read-only access), see the MCP Connector FAQ.
I don't see Developer mode in my settings
- Check that your plan supports it (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu). It is not available on the Free plan.
- On a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace, a workspace admin must allow Developer mode and custom apps in the workspace settings first. Once an admin has added and published the iBanFirst MCP app for the workspace, each member connects it individually with their own Token ID and Token Password.
- OpenAI sometimes moves this setting: if it is not under Apps → Advanced settings, look under Settings → Security.
ChatGPT says "Redirect URI not registered" or the login page doesn't open
Delete the app in Settings → Apps and create it again with the exact URL https://mcp.ibanfirst.com/mcp and OAuth authentication. If the error persists, contact it-production@ibanfirst.com.
ChatGPT doesn't use the iBanFirst tools in my conversation
Make sure iBanFirst MCP is selected for the conversation (+ → More). You can also name it explicitly in your request, for example "Using iBanFirst MCP, list my wallets".
ChatGPT asks me to confirm before each tool call
This is ChatGPT's normal behavior for custom apps in Developer mode. You can approve the call, and in most cases choose to remember the approval for the conversation. The iBanFirst tools only read data — they never move funds or change your account.
ChatGPT asks me to reconnect after a while
ChatGPT renews the access token automatically. A full login is still required after 7 days, or if your Token Password has changed. Click Connect on the iBanFirst MCP app and log in again.
